Avery, The Warrior Princess
I knew Avery back when I was in high school, and I had the chance to reconnect with her when I was taking her little brother senior pictures. I had forgotten how curly her hair naturally is, and it had given me an idea for a shoot!
I’ve been wanting to do some more sessions out by the water/beach. Normally, you don’t find too many places like that out in New York. Instead you find more woodsy places--which is still amazing! Luckily we live in an area where everything is literally about 45 minutes away from anything, including a lake with a beach area.
For the clothes I wanted to give it more of a moody, goddess vibe, so I pulled out an old black dress I’ve had for a few years. We had to put a few pins in so it would fit Avery better. And for her make up, I wanted her to look like her already golden skin was glowing in the sunlight. Cue the Trophy Wife highlighter by Fenty Beauty! And to give her more of a warrior presence, I ordered this gorgeous crown off of Etsy, and bought some gold temporary tattoos.
I met up with Avery at her house and did her makeup. Then we carpooled over to Hamlin Beach State Park. It was overcast when we arrived, but by the time we got to the water, the sun was peeking out and we had a perfect golden hour for pictures! I am so happy with how these shots turned out and can’t wait to do more water sessions while the warm weather is still around!
