Danielle Maternity Session

Danielle was expecting her first child, so of course we went over the top for her maternity session. So much so, that we ended up breaking it up into two different sessions!

In the first half of her maternity pictures, Danielle wore one of the gowns from our clients closet (yes, that gorgeous star gown). She looked absolutely gorgeous in it, and the golden morning light made it sparkle perfectly.

On our way to shoot her second look, we stopped at Starbucks for a quick drink. Seeing Danielle wear the dress into Starbucks called for this moment to be captured!

For the second look, I actually did the small set up in my backyard. I tied some twine from the trees, and used clothespins to hang a white curtain from the twine. I laid down a plain white sheet on the ground to help give complete the outdoor “studio” vibe. I styled Danielle again, and had her wear some plain overalls and a sports bra. I topped off the look with a tan hat. We also mixed in some shots with one of my wicker chairs I keep for moments like this.

We ran out of time for the third look, but that ended up working out for the better, as I wanted to shoot in the golden light of sunrise again. We scheduled a second session for about a week and a half later. I instructed Danielle to wear a black swimsuit, and I would bring along a black lace robe. The black clothes against the golden sun and sand was the perfect amount of contrast, but I was looking for a little more something to take these pictures to the next level. Luckily, because we were shooting at sunrise, it meant that there weren’t many passerby’s to peek in on what we were about to do next—have Danielle go topless. We both got in the water, and once we were a ways away from the shore, I had Danielle turn out to face the sun before she brought the top of her swimsuit down. Between the sleek hair, the dark water, and the dreamy lighting, it really came together beautifully and tastefully!

I’m so glad Danielle entrusted me and my creative vision to capture her maternity pictures!
