Maternity Milk Bath
It’s not every day that you get the opportunity to use a gorgeous bathroom for a photoshoot for FREE. So of course when Katie reached out to me that she wanted to do a milk bath for her maternity pictures and she said she had a place we could go and use, I said yes!
This was my first time doing a milk bath and I would do another one in a heartbeat. I would probably have waited until the end to add the milk though, because we learned the hard way if you add the milk in the tub (even when you think you have enough water already but it turns out you don’t) and you still have some more water to add, it gets frothy fast and you end up have a milk bath latte! So we had to scoop out some foam and bubble before we put in the flowers. Another tip: for photo shoots that require flowers, go to a local grocery store or even a local market and buy a few different bouquets of flowers. It’s great because you can save money, and you can get a bulk amount of each flower you want to use!
Now I actually hadn’t seen the tub or bathroom beforehand, so I was a little nervous going to the location without seeing what the lighting would be like. I was told that it was under a window, and it was a soaker tub. Which as great as it was to know, it didn’t tell me how big the window was or how close it was to the tub itself. Luckily, the window was almost as big as the tub was, and it was fairly close to it—holla! I still brought along my diffuser/reflector just in case.
Overall, it was such a fun experience getting to shoot this type of styled maternity session and I’m dying to do more!
