Headed Out West

Nothing but palm trees and blue skies.

The west coast. The Golden State. Cali. Do you have an idea of where I’ve been for the past two weeks yet?

I’m sure some of the things you’d think of when you first hear California are palm trees, sunny and 75 weather, beaches, and surfing. Which is true about 90% of the time. The other 10% is cloudy, cool days, droughts, and the worst traffic. Like, picture Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse traffic put together and multiply that by 5. Yeah, seriously, it’s that bad.

So what brings me out to the infamous west coast? My husband. I love this guy so much, I’m willing to move out here for him. That is, once he gets back from his deployment *insert sad emoji face here*.

But until then, I get to come out here and visit him while he trains and gets ready for this deployment! Which is great because it’s given me plenty of opportunities to meet new people, get used to the area, and also to explore and scope out new locations to take some photographs!

And so far, I have found quite a few places for future photo shoots! I cannot wait to do some!! Anytime I find a new place, I start to imagine the possibilities! Luckily, my husband is a good sport and doesn’t mind having his picture taken--he loves it! Ha ha! This guy can’t take a serious picture for the life of him! That’s when we switch roles and I hand the camera over to him! I can say I am so very pleasantly surprised with his eye for composition! I think I may have a new photo assistant ;)

Aside from taking pictures of each other, we went around a took a lot of nature shots. The vegetation they have here is definitely different from what we have back home in New York! Lots of cactuses (cacti?) desert flowers, and the odd bug or animal.
Overall, my trips to California are never dull. There’s always someplace new to go or something to do. Hopefully you can have the chance to visit here and experience some of the laid back lifestyle!
